Jayne Lancaster

Jayne is an artist specialising in drawings and illustrations of rural wildlife and livestock. Working from direct observation, she sketches animals in their natural environments, forming the foundation for larger studio pieces. Her practice combines a range of predominantly water-based media, including ink, watercolour and coloured pencil. Through bold, fluid lines and a loose, expressive approach, Jayne captures the character and spirit of her subjects, conveying movement, energy and a sense of place while retaining simplicity.

Based in Carnforth, Jayne is also an experienced tutor, delivering drawing classes and workshops for a local college, art venues and community groups. She is passionate about encouraging creativity in others, helping students to develop confidence in their observational skills while exploring their own artistic voice. Her teaching reflects her belief in the value of looking closely, working intuitively, and finding joy in the process of making.
