Lidia Ranns

Lidia Ranns is a Lancaster based artist with a real knack for mixing things up. After 25 years as a graphic designer, she's brought all those skills to creating an art style that's totally her own.

This fusion of skills and imagination results in a style that is distinctly unique and recognisable with a narrative sometimes with humour, love and often a deeper symbolic meaning. Bringing together influences from the geometric elegance of Art Deco, the evocative charm of bygone eras, and the beauty of Lancashire's landscapes, from its rugged coastlines, historic cobbles to its beautiful countryside.

Lidia is incredibly versatile working across a range of mediums playing with colours and forms. She moves fluidly between illustrating with the precision and patience of vector graphics and the raw freedom and looseness of traditional media with paints, ink or collage. Whichever it is, she creates pieces that feel both familiar and fresh with her characteristic and defiant uniqueness.

Lidia's diverse talent is marked by significant achievements, particularly in recent years. Following The Agnes Eccles award in 2006 for outstanding achievement in design, her small family became her main focus and priority. Returning to the scene, she's blossomed as an artist, becoming a Theo Paphitis SBS winner (2023), Lancashire Artist of the Year finalist (2023), and shortlisted for VAO International Artist of the Year (2024, 2025).
